Keeping Christ Center...

Christmas is almost here. December has been a busy month, especially for mothers as we have decorated our homes, shopped until we dropped, baked Christmas goodies, wrapped gifts, planned special meals, and countless other tasks that accompany preparations for a time with family and friends. But how do we keep Christ in Christmas with so many pressing responsibilities? And how do we keep Christ as the focus as the schedule is a little crazy until the beginning of January and routines return to normal? I had been pondering this and wondered what to write for this post. And then today a good friend reminded me as she shared how she had taken time to sit at the Lord's feet before she rushed out to get everything done on her to-do list. There's the secret. Take time to quiet your soul and savor the Savior. This is needful everyday but even more so in the next couple of weeks as nothing seems normal. Allow God's Word to minister truth to your anxious heart. Position yourself to allow the Holy Spirit to whisper quietly: "And your ears will hear a word behind you, 'This is the way, walk in it,' whenever you turn to the right or to the left." Is. 30:21 So even if it is difficult to get up and have your regular time in the Word, snatch some time each day and hide away for a few moments. A few precious words from our Lord will minister to the deepest needs of your soul and you will fill strengthened, refreshed and ready to encounter whatever He has waiting for you. The gift of His presence is a gift you can cherish each and every day but especially on Christmas. ~ Brenda Edwards
